World Symphony Series: Winter Season 2009

Following his critically lauded début performance with the KZNPO in 2008, pianist Boris Giltburg returns to the Durban stage to perform Shostakovich's Second Piano Concerto which brims with youthful vigour, vitality and romance. The programme for this concert provides myriad, yet well balanced, works from the masters: the evening kicks off with the entertaining Surprise Symphony from Handel, while the second half features Dvorak's brilliant Eighth Symphony with its seemingly spontaneous flow of thematic ideas.
